VoIP phone is quite famous these days. Since last decade, VoIP service has seen heights and heights though initially this technology faced hardships but after all it proved its mettle. Today the broadband phone has its worth among the people of all age groups. One must understand what a VoIP phone is all about and how does it function?

The full form of VoIP is Voice over Internet Protocol. VoIP is also called Internet Phone or Broadband Phone. It converts the voice into digital packs and sends it over the Internet to convert back into voice at the other end.

VoIP’s Working Style:

To make it working, a broadband Internet connection is required. To communicate using the VoIP service, one needs to have a headphone, mic together with a VoIP phone system setup or software installed on PC or laptop to make calls everywhere. VoIP phone collects data and sends it into small packs from one PC to the other and it all happens over the Internet. As the transmission takes place over the Internet, the data routing becomes much wider as it is with the Internet itself. When someone makes a call, the data then is forwarded to the VoIP provider’s call processor. This call processor appears to be the key in making a connection between you and your friend and then the session takes place between the two PCs. The calls works like an e-mail but to make the communication happen both the systems have to have the similar protocol.

The super attractive services are available with many of the VoIP service providers for which the conventional phone companies charge you handsome money. Problems Emerged from Using a VoIP Phone

VoIP phone does have some stumbling blocks, which the people must know about. The big trouble a user faces while using the VoIP service is that the VoIP phone instantly stops functioning, the moment the electricity goes off. On the other hand, a landline takes advantage on it on this point, as it is not affected by the electricity’s problem, the users can continue talking if the power is off. In the disastrous situations like snowstorm, cyclone and whirlwind; electricity is the first utility that goes off. So under these devastating circumstances, a man is in high need of communication and VoIP says, ‘I am no more’.

It is better to understand that your PC or laptop is compatible with the VoIP calls. If your machine is overloaded with other programmes, the call’s quality can be shaky or distorted.

VoIP creates big hurdles in emergency calling, as the location of the caller cannot be traced due to the IP-addressed phone numbers. Thus as a result, the operator is unable to locate the caller. It is obvious it seems not to be good in the situation of emergency. Obviously very soon, this problem would be overcome since VoIP’s worth has increased hugely everywhere in the world.

Despite of these problems, it is vividly clear that VoIP is the technology of future and will be ruling the telecom world defeating the landline phone system utterly.
