Voip Services

Voip is certainly making a name for itself around the world.Voip or Voice over Internet Protocol is simply a way of chatting with someone on the phone through an IP-based network.Seeing that there is Verizon, which is a very popular telephone company, Voip might have a ways to go before they beat out Verizon, but there are certainly many reasons why people should transfer over to a Voip related service.Evolving into the wonderful world of cordless phones, Voip is starting to make handsets for people to carry around, which are also more portable.Instead of using your standard phone company, you will use an internet based phone that actually uses the internet to process your phone calls. The idea is marvelous and the theory is great, many people find it very easy to use, and you could just add the bill to your monthly internet bill.Skype, which is a very popular messenger program, is included on this particular handset.

Skype for the Mac OS

Skype

I have to agree that the Mac looks a lot nicer than Windows, especially their operating systems, but what makes things so depressing is that there aren’t many programs that are compatible with the Mac.It was a matter of time before the popular peer-to-peer internet telephony network Skype made their program compatible with the Mac.You may also use Skype to send text related messages, which aren’t really anything too special, just use AIM or MSN if you want to use your messaging program for that. Where Skype is at its best is what it is exactly made for, that is Voip.If you are going to talk to someone on the phone, whether it is to someone using the same service or someone who has a cell or land based line, the quality is absolutely crystal clear. The internet is a large place, so it’s no surprise that the voice to voice quality is great. If you decide to talk to a client or a friend who is using Skype on another operating system, that is absolutely not a problem what so ever.Skype can contact other people using other OS’s, which is very convenient.

Skype – An Overall look at what this is

Skype, built by the users of Kazaa, lets you make VoIP calls via your broadband connections to other computers running Skype. You may call people’s cell phones also, but extra charges may apply to that. What disappoints many Skype users is the fact that they charge their users a fee annually to use their unlimited\pro service.According to Skype’s website, they allow a user who purchases the $29.95 package unlimited nationwide calling, which if calculated is less than $3.00 per month. This deal is great, but seeing that you are allowed to call any computer for free, they could have allowed us to call any phone for free.Since users in the USA or Canada don’t have to worry about paying a charge, even if they are calling a cell or land-lined phone, they still have to pay a minor charge overseas.

International calls are as low as 2.1 cents per minute, which isn’t naturally bad, but this is very limited to wherever you are calling. There are plenty of places where the price drastically goes up.As a matter of fact, the 2.1 cent charge is to around 30 different places. Since the rates differ per destination, you can use a calling card, or you could purchase Skype credit, which is very popular using this software.
