Who among us here have friends and family overseas or at least in places miles away? You may have a close relative who recently moved to another state. Your best friend may have recently moved to another country to study for a few years. Or you may be dating someone from across seas or borders.
Most of us are likely to have at least one relative or friend whom we’d like to get in touch with regularly, but fail to do so because of prohibitive communications expenses, especially overseas. Even with prepaid calling cards, it’s still not as cheap—and it’s sometimes complicated with all the dialing procedures.
VoIP kind of makes the world even smaller by letting you talk to friends and family anywhere cheap, and sometimes even for free. I, myself, do often call a close relative who had recently left the country. We catch each other online every now and then through our Google Talk IM client, which also supports PC-to-PC calling.
