Reviews & Comparisons of VoIP Providers

Entire UK now under VOIP service

The UK is finally covered with VoIP. This was the announcement made by Magrathea Telecommunications Ltd as they declared that they are the first network operator to offer countrywide coverage of UK geographic numbering to their VoIP providers. What this means is that a client who chooses a VoIP service from any of Magrathea’s partners can obtain a telephone number that is similar to the number of their existing BT or cable supplied service.

The people at Magrathea initiated lengthy consultations with OFCOM to determine how it can provide the geographic numbers and then make it available for VoIP services.

This kind of development further strengthens my view that at some point VoIP and traditional form of communication will eventually merge and form a whole new communication entry that bridges the gap between the traditional, cable based telephony and the newer, more technologically advanced VoIP telephony. I myself love the new advantages of actually having a full Wi-Fi-promoted voice client. Based on what has been described, a subscriber can now have a VoIP number that is similar to his geographic telephone number. This means that wherever the client is, a telephone call will always reach him. Although some might say that this is like using a mobile phone, it really is different because you now only have one number regardless of the service/network you choose. That is such a utopian development – imagine having one number given to you as a baby and that number is the only way people can contact you. Very Orwellian indeed.
