April 11th, 2006 · No Comments

Hospitals as well as other large, diverse workforces are realizing the value of utilizing wireless VoIP phones. VoIP allows them to effectively communicate with one another in a timely manner, regardless of their location either from different wings, floors or even buildings. In this type of setup VoIP offers consumers a more cost effective and efficient alternative than mobile phones and pagers.

The bigger challenge that VoIP needs to face are the issues and concerns surrounding the residential VoIP. Although, VoIP have completely harnessed itself in the business world, has yet to make a significant impression. This is mainly due to the obvious downside of VoIP at home. Most of the issues involve security.

For starters, most consumers are hesitant to switch to VoIP since not all current VoIP systems have power backups. Everyone is aware that you need a working computer in order to use VoIP. Therefore when the power goes out in your residence you will not be able to use it. Moreover, VoIP works over a high-speed Internet connection, and again that requires power. No power, no VoIP connection. Now these pitfalls tend to worry consumers especially when it comes to emergency situations. Could you imagine facing an emergency situation without a working phone?
