VoIP Not Only Cheap But Free! (Part 1)

April 27th, 2006 · No Comments

It was when I first moved out of my parents’ house in order to go to college that I first became aware of the exorbitant long distance charges you have to shoulder just so you can stay in touch of your family. I have been bemoaning about this problem for nearly a decade now, but have been with no option but to bear it all. After all, staying in touch with your friends and family is much more important especially if you live thousands of miles from them.

But I realize that is quite difficult to do especially, if you live in an area where plans for long distances charges very expensive. You’ll have to resign yourself with brief hellos and take cares. A proper catching up will surely dent your bank account. Therefore, an idle chitchat would definitely be too extravagant.

Before you know it, you feel more alone than ever. And the thousand miles that separates you from your love ones seem to grow each. So how do you solve this problem? Well, a solution has been presented in the form of VoIP or Voice Over Internet Protocol.

In case you have not heard of this phenomenon, let me share how it works. VoIP allows you to make telephone calls using your computer and internet connection. So, how does this solve the problem with long distance charges you ask? Well, one of the most basic advantages that VoIP offers is that it can lower your telecommunication costs due to the fact that your phones calls are transmitted as data.
