Number one on the list is what VOIP stands for — Voice Over Internet Protocol.

Second is the general definition for the term VOIP. Without going through all the technical stuff, VOIP is simply a revolutionized way of making a telephone call.

Third on the list are the things you need in order to start setting up VOIP service. One of the things you must secure is a broadband internet connection.

Fourth is to sign up with a VOIP provider. If browse through the Internet you’ll find that there are a lot of companies setting up VOIP services. The most well known is Skype.

Fifth, VOIP works by translating the sound of your voice into small packets of data and then transmitting these through the internet.

Sixth on the list is that a PC is necessary when using a VOIP service, and this might be a drawback if your electricity out.

Seventh, VOIP services provide relatively cheap phone calls compared to the standard fixed line telephone.

Eight, it’s important that you consider the possibility of security issues especially since your internet connection might be hacked.

Ninth, keep in mind that when your PC acquired a virus you will not be able to use the phone when you are on a VOIP service.
