OK, it’s not really an unidentifiable flying object, but it sure looks like one! USRobotics has announced earlier this month the 9610 USB Speakerphone. This is USR’s latest addition to its growing number of VoIP-related gadgetry.
The UFO Phone (as it’s fondly called) features a nifty echo-cancellation technology that gets rid of echo and feedback that’s common among speakerphones. This allows for clear and crisp conversations and multi-person conferences. The UFO phone likewise gives users enhanced voice fidelity, as compared to traditional PC speakers and microphones, which may tend to sound tinny.
The UFO phone comes in a small package that’s easy to stow away or keep in a laptop bag. However, durability is not compromised, given the phone’s sturdy design. Mute and volume buttons on the phone itself allow for easy control of conversations, even when you’re working on something else on your computer.
And what good would a Skype phone be if it isn’t easy to use? The UFO phone integrates well with Skype—it’s plug and play. All a user needs to do is plug in the phone to any USB 1.2 or 2.0 port, and the phone will just start working. The phone is actually labeled Skype-certified, so you’re sure you’re getting the real deal!
The USRobotics 9610 USB Speakerphone retails for US$ 49.99, and will hit retail stores within the month.
