Skype for the Mac OS

Skype

I have to agree that the Mac looks a lot nicer than Windows, especially their operating systems, but what makes things so depressing is that there aren’t many programs that are compatible with the Mac.It was a matter of time before the popular peer-to-peer internet telephony network Skype made their program compatible with the Mac.You may also use Skype to send text related messages, which aren’t really anything too special, just use AIM or MSN if you want to use your messaging program for that. Where Skype is at its best is what it is exactly made for, that is Voip.If you are going to talk to someone on the phone, whether it is to someone using the same service or someone who has a cell or land based line, the quality is absolutely crystal clear. The internet is a large place, so it’s no surprise that the voice to voice quality is great. If you decide to talk to a client or a friend who is using Skype on another operating system, that is absolutely not a problem what so ever.Skype can contact other people using other OS’s, which is very convenient.

One thing that has recently joined the Mac side of Skype is Audio Conferencing.Audio Conferencing is the ability to chat with up to five users at a time.Originally the Mac version didn’t support this feature because it was in a major beta mode, but over time people complained and the beta testers simply told the developers that they needed to get on the horn and install this into their software. Now, professional clients can discuss their business using their Mac PC’s, which is very convenient.

The interface is very easy to use on the Mac version. If you aren’t a Mac user then you probably won’t know what I am talking about, but many people that are at least a little computer literate will know what I am talking about. There are a few buttons at the top of the program including Add and\or Block buddy, Send IM, Send File (which allows you to send files to another contact) Send Contacts, etc.Skype continues to improve its features as a whole, for both the Windows and Linux version and the Mac version.

If you own a web cam and are interested in joining another member on Skype in a video chat, you may do so.Another feature that was suffering in the earlier stages of the Skype beta testing for the Mac is now available in the current version.Something that is very convenient is the fact that you can join someone that is using a Windows based PC, while you are using your Mac.If you encounter any errors, which usually don’t happen on the Mac version, you can contact the Skype staff at their website.

Overall, I really like the Mac version of Skype. There have been a bunch of critical known errors for the Windows version of Skype and that just irks a lot of people. The Mac,as always, has closed in on this problem and really fixed all of the bugs, which is why you don’t see that many. You may download the Skype software at the following address http://www.skype.com/download/skype/macosx/ . Enjoy!
